This is Tamworth

Well, it's been an exciting week as the players were as much in the dark about the new manager as everyone else!

The night before Chris Hutchings and Martin O'Connor were unveiled, the players were swapping text messages, just like the journalists and fans!

Lots of us had heard rumours and most of them turned out to be false!

We met Chris and Martin on Tuesday for just a brief informal chat but the real work was set to start today.

It's a clean slate for all the players, young and old and no doubt the new coaches will want to take a good look at us all before Saturday's game against Hereford United.

I've never worked with Chris before but know all about him from his time in the Premiership.

I know Martin is a bit of a legend here at Walsall and Michael Ricketts has already told us all what a great player he was for the club.

It's funny both Chris and Martin were both captains of Walsall and are back in a managerial role – but as the current skipper I'm not sure I'll be following in their footsteps!

Even with all that's been happening, my focus is purely on getting fit again and making sure my groin is 100 per cent.

I won't make this Saturday's game against Hereford but am hoping to be in contention next weekend for the visit of Leeds – although that could be 50-50 too.

It's been quite quiet at the training ground all week – I guess that's because we have a new manager and we have to behave ourselves for a few weeks or so!
